4 Summer Activities to Try During Quarantine/COVID-19
July 16, 2020
As we set into the new normal of 2020, people are making different plans for their summer vacations. Most travel has been put on hold. Social gatherings are limited to a certain number of people so, what options are there to still enjoy your summer break? Well, here are four free activities to do that will have you still enjoying the summer even through your masks and social distancing.
Camp Out in Your Backyard
Grab a tent and pitch it in your own backyard. You can start a fire and grab your favorite snacks to kick off a night under the stars. From s’mores to popcorn, you’ll be sure to enjoy a safe social distancing activity with your family. Before the sun goes down you can fill water balloons and toss them around too. Enjoying your own backyard with a variety of yard games makes for the perfect start to your night.
Learn to Bake or Start a new hobby
There’s never been a better time than now to learn a new skill. Most people are working remotely or are in some form of a flexible schedule which is giving them more time to spend with their loved ones. Less time spent in the office or in the car commuting allows for more time to learn a new hobby. Use this time to learn to bake by watching as many YouTube videos as possible. There are so many tools online that can help you during this time of social distancing.
Create a Virtual Book Club
If your book club has taken a break while everyone adjusts to the new rules of social distancing then grab your favorite book, your favorite friends and your computer or smart device. With today’s advanced technology, we can still meet with people even if it’s not face-to-face. There are plenty of tools such as Zoom and FaceTime that can have you still enjoying your friends and family but from the comfort of everyone’s own homes.
Get yourself out on the river. You can rent canoes and/or kayaks and literally float for hours down the river while still staying safe. The best part of a fun activity like this is you can maintain 6 feet distance while still enjoying the company of your friends. Bring snacks and drinks and enjoy the calm waters down the river. Don’t forget your bug spray though. Bugs tend to enjoy the river just as much as you will.
