The Easiest Way to Make Your Exhibit Last Longer

April 17, 2017

Did you know, the majority of exhibit damage occurs during transit? Investing in a good crate is more important than you might have initially thought.

It’s common to think that after an exhibit has been neatly packed into shipping cases the exhibit is safe. The reality is that’s when the exhibit is most vulnerable and most damage occurs. Crates are handled at high speeds and by people that process hundreds or even thousands of cases in a day. When being transported, potholes and evasive maneuvers can send cases banging around a trailer like bowling pins. Ultimately mistakes will happen, and when they do quality packaging can be the difference between having to buy a new exhibit and being able to continue using your existing one.

QUICK TIP:Photograph packed cases and include the photo of the contents along with the exhibit. Email the photo to the installation crew and keep one for your record to help expedite the install.

While it’s not the most exciting purchase, scrimping on packaging can cost you a lot in the long run.

Products damaged while shipping to a show often means having to do repairs very quickly. That work often means paying premium rates for graphic reprints, display repairs, or replacements. Or the worst outcome, having no exhibit at all. A strong crate with an engineered packing solution can significantly increase the life expectancy of exhibit materials. Having a crate with compartments provides greater protection for the contents and makes it easier to pack and unpack quickly, which saves you time and money in the long run.

The Vault Case is the newest case by Skyline. It is an example of a case designed with the client needs in mind. It is sturdy enough to withstand the toughest situations and offers an engineered packing system that speeds up packing and unpacking time which saves valuable time during the hectic install and dismantle periods.

QUICK TIP: Don’t forget to include packing instructions and to email instruction videos if they are available as well as a list of all the crates with numbers along with a description, and ideally a photo, of everything that is packed in each crate.  It will save you a lot of time and headaches and could be useful if you end up having an insurance claim.

Many exhibits are packed and unpacked dozens if not hundreds of times per year… often by untrained personnel.   A well-designed case with good packing instructions will minimize product wear and tear and speed up the install and dismantle time, all of which will save you time and money.
