3 Ways to Make Your Virtual Event More Engaging

Many event marketers are moving a handful of their trade shows and events from in-person to an online presence to ensure they are staying in front of their customers during the time when large gatherings are not allowed. Since this is new to most marketers, you might be questioning how to fully engage your audience without the face-to-face element of your event. Here are three ways to keep your audience focused on your message:

Choose the right platform
Deciding which platform to use for your virtual events will depend on what your goals are. From video conferences, to live stream webcasts, to virtual animated summits - deciding which route you will take for your virtual experience should align directly with your goals for the event.

If your company is smaller and your budget doesn’t allow for a large virtual experience, hosting a video conference might be your best option. If your company exhibits at multiple trade shows per year and you find your shows being canceled or postponed right now, you may be able to repurpose your existing trade show budget to host a live stream webcast or virtual summit. This will allow for a larger turnout and many more ways to engage your audience, much like in-person events.



Use a video option
No matter which option you choose as your platform, putting a face to the voice on your video will add an extra element of engagement. Rather than just allowing your audience to hear your voice, let them see you or your presenters while they introduce themselves and answer any questions.

Adding a variety of interactive elements to your virtual experience will allow you to see how much of your audience is fully participating. Some options for added interaction are:

  • Options to request educational marketing materials
  • Multiple interactive “hot spots” with your custom content and videos for attendees to click-through in your virtual trade show booth
