We are now entering a new trade show season. How are you going to get a head start on your trade show events and ahead of your competition? Here are 3 easy steps to take to help you get a jump start on a successful trade show year!

Research ahead of time: In order to decipher where you should exhibit and the best events to participate in, do your research ahead of time. Just because you were attending an event last year, doesn’t mean the value is still there. Make sure you measure each event and participate in shows that are growing each year, marketing themselves, pulling in new attendees and additional exhibitors; these are the shows you want to spend your time and investment in.

Act early, plan early: Once you decide on your shows, get your paperwork in early. If you didn’t choose your booth space from the year before, do it now. Location of your exhibit is very important, best to be where the traffic flows and toward a focal point of the show. Meet the deadlines applied to you to save money, and ensure you get shows posted on your website, get your company information in the show directories, and market to your customers that you will be there.

All about pre-show reach: In order to get on the schedule of your target market you need to let them know where they can find you. Send them a pre-show mailer or email and invite them to visit you at your booth. Attendees plan their days out in advance. In order to get on their radar, they need information on where to find you, what you are showcasing, how your product/service will benefit them and maybe a promotion they can register for. More success is driven from pre-show campaigns and marketing, without it, how will your prospects know where you are.

As 2015 begins, it is never too early to start planning your events. Get your goals and game plan together and start on these steps to jump start your year. Good luck!
