Meet the Skyline Exhibits & Design Team

Our core principles include “taking care of the client” and “enjoying what we do.” These two ideas go hand-in-hand for the team at Skyline. From the controllers office to the showroom and throughout the warehouse, our staff of trade show processionals, designers and marketing experts are dedicated to ensuring that you are show ready.

Below you'll find our team and short bio's for each of us. We hope you'll take a moment to get to know us better - face-to-face marketing is all about being in front of the people who can make a difference for your business. Steve Hoffman

Steve Hoffman

President and CEO
Steve likes to think of himself as the comic relief for the office, when in fact he is the guiding force. While he is modest to a fault, Skyline Exhibits and Design succeeds because of Steve and his knowledge of trade shows and event marketing. As the company’s president, he oversees both the long-term business direction and serves as the company’s ambassador both to the industry and to the local business community. Steve is quick with a joke but when anyone needs guidance, advice or industry knowledge, Steve always takes the lead for SED.

When he’s away from work — who are we kidding? Steve is rarely away from work since SED is his baby. But, when Ellen can pry him away, he enjoys time at the lake, Bruce Springsteen music, and public-speaking opportunities. Steve recently released his book, The Reality of BS: (Big Sales, That Is!), and will be serving as an instructor for upcoming ExhibitorLIVE seminars. Steve and his wife Ellen (SED’s director of finance) have two adult children who are both enjoying successful careers of their own.

Ellen Hoffman

Ellen Hoffman

Director of Finance
Ellen handles all financial and human resources matters at Skyline Exhibits and Design. Her day to day work involves accounts payable and receivable, payroll, freight coordination and anything else that has a number associated with it. Ellen has also been known to step in for the service department when needed, which she loves - except when the need involves plunging toilets. When Ellen is asked about business lessons learned, she will quickly tell you that success is more than worrying about the bottom line – it’s about customer service. Ellen is instrumental in sharing and nurturing that philosophy at Skyline.

When she’s away from work, Ellen is most likely hanging out at the lake with friends or a good book. Business and family are a difficult combination for many couples, but 32 years of marriage to Skyline owner Steve Hoffman is a testament to the fact that the mix can work. Ellen and Steve have raised two children who are both happy, healthy and love their chosen career paths – an achievement that would make any mom proud.

Josh Reed

Josh Reed

Director of Operations
Josh does it all at Skyline Exhibits and Design. As the company continues to grow, his focus is on leadership, process and procedure. But Josh also frequently works in the warehouse or on the set-up floor. He demonstrates passion for his work daily as he challenges the Skyline team to grow to their capabilities. Josh is proud of his role in helping grow the company triple in size since the day he was hired. He is also quick to brag on the reliability, integrity and work ethic of the team he has built.

Josh lives by the Golden Rule and provides a strong example of the Skyline culture. The trade show industry can make for some challenging, long days but you would be hard pressed to find a better attitude than the one for which Josh is known. This positive outlook carries over into an active family life that includes riding bicycles, traveling, eating all types of food and numerous hands-on projects. Josh will tell you he loves what he does, but if he had to choose a different path, he’d be a racecar driver.

Lauren Anthony

Marketing Consultant
Lauren Anthony is no stranger to the hard work associated with events and shows – she is just as comfortable on a ladder as she is sitting at a desk. And her hard work pays off with some of her projects being published in The Knot (www.theknot.com) and on the Martha Stewart Weddings blog (www.marthastewartweddings.com). She enjoys working with the SED team, clients and our manufacturing facility to ensure projects run smoothly, on time, and within budget. Lauren combines Skyline’s SHOW READY promise with a personal dedication to integrity and reliability to produce big results for exhibitors of all sizes.

When she’s not at the office, Lauren is most likely at the pool or beach with her young daughter and husband. A dedicated mom, Lauren does like to eat out and confesses that her family probably goes out too much, but she enjoys the family time it gives them. She’s likely to split her downtime between a Netflix binge and a good book, so conversations with Lauren are easy and fun.

Tim Carter

Tim Carter

Marketing Consultant
Tim Carter brings more than twenty years of marketing experience to Skyline Exhibits & Design and has helped clients be successful at more trade shows than he can count. He sees building relationships and ensuring successful exhibit experiences as his highest responsibilities in business. He places a high value on creativity and effective communications, two traits that he consistently demonstrates in his own work. While he is always seeking to learn, Tim has proven himself to be a great teacher as well.

Tim is a lifelong adventurer, from piloting hang gliders to climbing mountains.  Downtime pleasures for him include dinner parties with family and friends and enjoying the live music scene in and around Greenville. Tim will tell you that the trade show business can be very stressful at times, and while professionalism is paramount, he considers the fun and laughter with co-workers and clients a daily blessing.

Jason Kelly

Jason Kelly

Marketing Consultant
As a career communicator, Jason knows how to build and execute a marketing strategy – a talent that benefits every exhibitor client that he encounters. Always willing to share his experience and insights, Jason approaches every opportunity with an eye toward creative solutions for his customers’ challenges. He also works to integrate solutions so that a marketing budget works in the same positive direction across all initiatives.

Outside of work, Jason is a dedicated family man who spends a lot of time with his son and various Scouting activities. As a scout leader, he invests time into mentoring other young people and takes the “always be prepared” motto seriously. Supporting clients at shows around the world, Jason is methodical about the show plan and becomes an effective problem-solver when Murphy’s Law rears its ugly head.

Megan Van Zutphen

Marketing Consultant
Some of the adjectives describing Megan include outgoing, driven, dedicated and creative. She has been a top-selling Skyline international marketing consultant for over five consecutive years because she works as a strong advocate for her clients. One of her customers tells the story of how their co-workers all thought Megan worked for their company because of her dedication to their goals and success. She quickly analyzes trade show objectives and makes recommendations that provide her clients with the best possible results for their event marketing efforts.

Megan’s life outside the office is as busy and rewarding as her professional experience. She’s a wife and a mom and their family also includes two dogs. She loves doing home renovations, playing golf, dancing and eating in Charleston’s many fabulous restaurants. Megan combines a wealth of life experiences and professional encounters into crafting the most creative solutions for her clients – and her love for a challenge shows in everything she does.

Colleen Krumm

Colleen Krumm

Project Manager
Colleen came to Skyline Exhibits & Design from the field of education. That experience, including a master’s degree and the Rookie Teacher of the Year award, make Colleen a powerful asset to the SED team. Based in the Charleston office, she consistently demonstrates the ability to expertly juggle multiple projects on multiple continents all while keep the client happy with the process and the results. She was modest when asked about professional accomplishments, so we’ll just say that she was instrumental in designing the project management workflow.

Colleen is extremely detail-oriented (and yes, perfectionist is an apt description) which is priceless in the world of trade show management. The unique balance that Colleen brings is that while being analytical, she is also an excellent influence for creative designs and solutions. She enjoys time with her family and dogs and socializing with friends. She loves being outdoors, traveling, live music and putting her energy into creative projects.

Angela Smith

Project Manager
If you ask Angela for a description of what she does, after a moment’s pause, she’ll say: “wrangle chaos.” The trade show industry is indeed a chaotic environment where numerous plans, people and products must converge at the same time. Our events and exhibit results are impressive, but sometimes getting there involves monumental tasks. Along with the other members of the project management team, she manages virtually every aspect of Skyline client’s show effort – and she does so with élan. She’s even the self-appointed leader of Skyline’s Friday Morning Dance Off.

Angela is great encourager in the office, and she takes pride in persevering to be a little better and stronger than yesterday, and in maintaining strong resistance to accepting failure. Maybe it’s the cheerleader in her, but she contributes greatly to office morale and inspires her coworkers to greater results. Outside of the office Angela loves being with her family. She also enjoys baking, coaching cheerleading and exploring the great outdoors.

Ben Tompsett

Benjamin “Ben” Tompsett

Designer

Ben is a designer who came from the trenches of trade show service. With that experience he backs up a creative eye with the know-how for building booths. He knows that complex set-up instructions need careful attention to ensure that accuracy and efficiency are easy achievements on the set-up side of the equation. Ben’s approach to business is best summed up in his own words, I worked with children for the better part of my life, and while working with them I realized that life is much like a ladder. Those that have come before you are higher on that ladder and those that came after are coming up behind us. Wherever you are, you have the opportunity to pull others up or support those who are further along.”

Outside of the office (and sometimes in the office), Ben is a giant nerd. He likes pinball, Dungeons & Dragons and fine craft beer. Ben’s outgoing personality adds fun and an element of surprise to every situation whether at work or at play.

Amanda Walker

Amanda Walker

Designer

One of the newest additions to the Skyline Exhibits & Design team, Amanda brings a creative edge to the booths that go on exhibition. Based on her experience, she also gets tasked with other creative endeavors including photography (a personal passion), videography and social media marketing. Although young in her career, her insight and fresh approach to design add years of capability to the design team.

Amanda strives to make the world a better place through art. She believes in the power of positively influencing someone’s perspective through visual stimuli. This mindset enables her to create powerful concepts in the booths and environments that she creates. Amanda thrives on creating design that make people say, “WOW!” Outside of work she’s still in a creative zone – with watercolors, cameras and the great outdoors she’s always working on an artist’s pursuits.

Kelvin Morton

Kelvin Morton

Senior Service Technician

As both a trade show pro and an US Air Force veteran, Kelvin Morton brings a wealth of experience to Skyline’s service department. As the Service Supervisor, Kelvin does everything from building booths to training the rest of the department. He’s involved daily with scheduling, supervision of projects and the continual education process that the service department pursues. It’s easy to see that Kelvin takes pride in his job and his role as a trainer and mentor.

Kelvin is rightly proud of his service to his country and he carries that ethic of dedication into his work at Skyline. He talks of treating others the way he wants to be treated and demonstrates that guiding value in work he does – Kelvin feels a responsibility to his team and works to ensure the success of every client’s events. When he’s away from the office, Kelvin looks for projects where he can get a little dirty and exert some energy. He loves sports and is an avid fisherman.

Taylor Ammermann

Service Technician

At Skyline Exhibits and Design, if you are looking for help, Taylor is always willing to pitch in. He sees his role as a Service Technician as an opportunity to help the client and his SED team member produce the best possible exhibit presentation. He’s also a show-him-once professional – Taylor is eager to learn and quick to grasp the process and importance of the work he does. Taylor demonstrates a strong work ethic and enjoys contributing to the exhibitor’s success.

Taylor is a dedicated family man and spends his off-work time with his wife and young son. They like to travel and enjoy good food and drink. He embodies one of South Carolina’s classic rivalries; originally from Columbia (home of the University of South Carolina), he’ll root for Clemson – as long as they’re not playing against USC.

Steven Devita

Steven Devita

Lead Service Tech

Steven is a go-to guy for virtually any aspect of service at Skyline Exhibits & Design.  He has an in-depth working knowledge of virtually every product in our portfolio and is an integral part of Stevie Griffith’s Custom department. He can weld, he can build, he can troubleshoot, and he can direct and teach others to do the things that have to get done. It sounds repetitive when we talk about our team members, but Steven is self-motivated and demonstrates a work ethic that is second to none.

When he is away from the Skyline, Steven enjoys the role of being father to three wonderful children. His son recently told him that while Steven was sleeping, he counted his dad’s freckles and determined that he has 8 billion. Like many of his coworkers, Steven brings laughter to the office without sacrificing professionalism. Once a client knows him, they’ll always want him involved with their projects.

Stevie Griffith

Custom Department Manager

It is not often you can work with both a movie-star and a Walt Disney Imagineer - Stevie (as we call him) is both! Think of him as a native son returned from gathering a world of experience – from set shops in Atlanta, New York, California and further. Stevie has come home to Greenville and, in the process, found a new role helping Skyline Exhibits & Design make a big impact. Not only can Stevie build most anything a designer can imagine, he understands the process and techniques involved in making a huge impact while staying in budget.

Stevie brings a lot of fun and laughter to the office but takes his work seriously. He enjoys building quality, durable custom pieces and he strives to always surpass the clients’ expectations. Outside of the office he like writing plays and screenplays, he plays the piano and he enjoys the company of a large family and friends. Once you get to know Stevie, he might let you call him “Tex” – that’s the character he played in the movie Forrest Gump.
